The college was founded by the Sarvodaya Education Society with support from local philanthropists and the royal family of the former Morbi State, with the main aim of extending science education to students from rural and semi-urban areas who previously had to travel elsewhere for higher studies.

Over the years, Shri M.M.Science College has built a reputation for academic rigour, with experienced faculty members, research activities, and student-centric programmes. It also hosts extracurricular activities such as NCC and community outreach initiatives, contributing to the holistic development of its students.
