šŸ“° Morbi Man Kills Mother-in-Law Over ā€˜Abusive Behaviour’ and Constant Quarrels

Morbi (Gujarat): A major criminal case has come to light in Morbi after police arrested a man accused of murdering his mother-in-law and attempting to destroy evidence by burning her body.

According to police investigations, the deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Sushila Patil, who had been living with her daughter and son-in-law in the Shiv Park area of Pipli village near Morbi for about three to four years. The couple has two sons.

The accused, 41-year-old Naneshwar (also spelled Nandeshwar) Patil/Puwar, reportedly grew increasingly frustrated over many years with what he described as Sushila’s frequent quarrels, abusive behaviour, and constant conflicts with family members, including his children.

šŸ” How the Crime Was Carried Out

  • The murder occurred on the night of October 12–13, 2025 when the victim was asleep at home.
  • Naneshwar allegedly conspired with two acquaintances — identified as Rahul Pandor (also called Rahul) and another friend — to carry out the crime.
  • According to the police, the trio entered Sushila’s room, restrained her and killed her by asphyxiation while she slept.
  • After the killing, they placed her body in a sack and transported it about 18 kilometres from the village to a location along the Morbi–Halvad Highway. There they doused the body with petrol and set it on fire in an attempt to cover up the crime.

šŸš“ Police Investigation and Arrest

Initial investigations were launched after locals found a charred body near a ceramic factory area in Andarna village on October 13. Police registered a murder case and began collecting evidence.

Using CCTV footage, mobile tower data, and intelligence work, investigators traced a suspicious motorcycle seen near the scene, which led them to Naneshwar. Authorities intercepted him as he was travelling by train toward Ahmedabad and brought him into custody for questioning.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to hiring his two aides for the murder and even admitted offering one of them ₹50,000 for help.

Police have confiscated the motorcycle and phones used in the crime and are still searching for the two other suspects believed to have fled the area. Forensic teams have also preserved DNA samples to confirm the victim’s identity.
